Because life doesn’t stop for social media — and neither do chickens.

If you’ve been wondering what we’ve been up to at Grey and Bash Farm lately, the short answer is: everything.

Summertime on a regenerative farm like ours isn’t just “busy” — it’s a full-body workout, a weather guessing game, a never-ending animal shuffle, and a reminder every single day why we do what we do.

While we haven’t been posting as much as we’d like (shoutout to everyone still checking in on us!), it’s not because we’re sitting back sipping sweet tea. It’s because real food doesn’t grow itself — and real farming doesn’t fit neatly into 15-second Instagram clips.

Here’s a little peek into what’s been happening behind the scenes.

Healthy pasture healthy chickens

🐔 Pastured Poultry Season Is Full Swing

Our broiler chickens have been thriving on pasture — rotated daily through fresh grass, soaking up sunshine, chasing bugs, and fertilizing the land as they go. We’ve had some amazing batches this year, and the flavor? Let’s just say if you haven’t tried a chicken from a farm that moves birds daily, you don’t really know what chicken tastes like.

We’ve been stocking up on your favorites:
✅ Boneless skinless breasts
✅ Thighs, leg quarters, and drumsticks
✅ Livers (for the real food folks!)
✅ Wings — because, let’s be honest, game day is always around the corner

🐖 The Pigs Are Living Their Best Life

Our forest-raised pigs have been clearing underbrush, rooting for treats, and acting like a porcine landscaping crew. Their job? Regenerate the land while living like pigs should — free to roam, wallow, and snack on acorns, roots, and farm scraps.

We’ve got pork shares available and would love to help fill your freezer with some of the best pasture-raised pork Alabama has to offer.

🥬 The Garden’s Growing, Too

This year we added market gardening to the mix. It’s still small, still scrappy, but we’re learning every day and making space for veggies that taste like home.

Expect more on that soon — we’re figuring out the best way to offer produce bundles locally once we get the harvest rhythm locked in.

💬 Why We’ve Been Quiet Online

We believe in transparency — not just about our animals and practices, but about us. This season has been non-stop, and between farm chores, homeschooling the boys, and juggling off-farm work, we’ve had to put content on the back burner.

But here’s the thing: we are still here, still farming, still feeding families real food raised with care. We just sometimes forget to stop and document it all.

Thanks for being patient with us. For cheering us on. For buying from us. And for caring where your food comes from.

📦 How to Order

We try to make it as easy as possible to get real food from our farm to your table. Here’s how you can shop:

🛒 Order Direct from Our Website:
Browse our full selection of pastured poultry at Greyandbashfarm.com/products . You can choose local delivery or farm pickup — whatever works for your schedule.

🌾 Shop the Huntsville Food & Farm Hub:
We’re proud to be part of the Huntsville Food and Farm Hub, a farmer-run marketplace started by good folks Lauren and Ryan Murphy and Callie and Chris Enea, where 38 + local farms and producers sell everything from produce and honey to meat and flowers. It’s like a farmers market — but online. You can build a whole week’s worth of local food in one order, and pickup is easy.

Supporting the Hub supports all of us — and helps build a resilient local food system right here in North Alabama.

Until next time — from our family to yours, thank you for supporting local, sustainable, human-scale farming.

Stay cool out there. It’s hot, but the real food movement is hotter. 🔥
