From Our Farm to Your Table: The Ultimate Creamy Hot Sausage Pasta
Some recipes are more than just food—they’re memories. This creamy, comforting pasta dish, which we affectionately call Saucy Pasta has been a family favorite for years, and it’s the perfect way to let our Grey and Bash Farm Pork Sausage shine!
The heat from our sausage melts perfectly into the rich cream sauce, and when topped with a crunchy bacon-panko mixture, it’s truly a perfect bite. Best of all? It comes together in about 30 minutes or less!
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
For the Pasta:
- 1 lb Grey and Bash Farm Hot Sausage
- 1 lb Penne pasta (or your favorite shape—rigatoni works great, too!)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 2 large cloves of Garlic, minced
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (for finishing the sauce)
- ½ cup Shredded Parmesan Cheese, plus more for garnish
- Fresh Parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Salt and Pepper to taste
For the Crispy Topping:
- 4 slices Grey and Bash Farm Smoked Bacon, chopped
- 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
- ⅓ cup Panko Breadcrumbs
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crispy Topping
- Cook the Bacon: In a small skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until it is nice and crispy . Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Set aside.
- Toast the Panko: Pour off most of the bacon grease from the skillet, leaving just a tablespoon or two behind. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt. Add the panko breadcrumbs and toast them, stirring frequently, until they are golden brown and crispy,
- Combine: Return the crispy bacon to the skillet with the panko. Stir to combine and remove the pan from the heat. Set aside.
2. Cook the Pasta and Sausage
- Boil the Pasta: Bring a large pot of heavily salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente, Do not drain yet.
- Cook the Sausage: While the water boils, heat the olive oil in a large saucepan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the Grey and Bash Farm Hot Sausage and break it up into small pieces using a spoon. Cook until the sausage is browned and fully cooked through,
3. Finish the Sauce
- Add Garlic: Push the sausage to one side of the pan, add a small splash of olive oil to the cleared area, and add the minced garlic. Cook for about one minute until fragrant, then mix it into the sausage.
- Simmer the Cream: Pour in the heavy whipping cream. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer for 3–5 minutes until it begins to thicken slightly.
- Combine: Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked penne pasta directly from the pot into the sausage and cream sauce.
- Enrich: Add 3 tablespoons of butter and the ½ cup of Parmesan cheese to the pasta. Stir quickly and thoroughly until the butter melts and the cheese dissolves, creating a beautiful, glossy, creamy sauce.
- Season: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
4. Serve and Enjoy!
- Spoon the Saucy Pasta into bowls.
- Garnish generously with the chopped fresh parsley.
- Top each serving with a big spoonful of the Crispy Bacon and Panko Topping.
Enjoy this simple, perfect meal!
